Chapter 8 is now complete and available. Here’s an excerpt from Chapter 8 on “ears” or mimi 耳 みみ
In general every kanji lesson will show you etymological origins (how the kanji came to be!) as well as a writing practice pad (that will actually check what the IME believes you drew and show you!) and finally bunsetsu jars [our method] to teach you sentence structure in a visual way, and cultural notes to further your understanding.

How did Japanese Complete come to be?
Our founder is actually an American, born and raised in Ohio, which is funny because “Ohayou” means Good morning in Japanese. Our founder went to university in Cleveland and studied Japanese under Kishi-sensei, Fitzgerald-sensei (she’s Irish), and later went to Middlebury’s prestigious Summer Language School for Japanese language immersion before spending a year abroad at the renowned Waseda University in Tokyo Japan. Our founder made friends with many top-tier Japanese language educators at Middlebury and at Waseda. Through many conversations, our founder found that the learning method could be greatly simplified. Individuals such as Nathan Hill, professor emeritus at Oxford in the UK, helped devise our curriculum approach. We teach:
Kanji, Particles, and Verbs.
777 Kanji, 235 Particles, 555 Verbs.
We break down the types of words in Japanese a little differently than most curriculums, in order to simplify the approach; you can learn more here via this interactive page “Reverse Engineer Japanese,” briefly here: we teach verbs (u-verbs of which ru-verbs are a subset, i-verbs normally called adjectives in other platforms/books, and we teach two types of nouns (no-nouns and na-nouns)). This is how we do it. We broke down Japanese into its most vital constituent pieces — the way real Japanese people group the language concepts and how to think. Japanese Complete is not just about learning Japanese, it’s about learning how to think with a Japanese frame of mind and this will enable you to:
Read Zen Poetry and understand it the first time
Participate in Haiku writing contests for newspapers and television
Understand how thoughts are segmented and how particles, versatile as they are, determine the role of a word after it’s spoken.
How sentences “lead up to a punchline” in Japanese, contrasting with English delivering the vital information immediately or phirst.
